Just when we are seeing glimpses of summer and looking forward to getting into those bikinis, the Harrogate Lingerie and Swimwear Exhibition comes along and showcases the autumn trends that brands have picked up on. Fashion retail magazine Drapers showed the key trends. Black was a big player and understandably so. It’s hard to not feel great in a flattering black lingerie set. Gone are cafe lattes and chocolate brown shades though, and in their place is a burst of colour – pink, purple and acid hues are carried over from summer to brighten up the winter palette.
Shape-wear, the saviour for many women, was there in abundance with retailers experimenting with new smart fabrics and designing lingerie which sucks it in whilst still looking sexy. Seamless microfibres are used to smooth tums and legs, with versatile nude tones being favourite, but other colourways available.
Florals were also a key trend, but toned down from the summer. Floral embroidery finishes simple lingerie in a classic way, whilst more modern styles used bold floral prints in black, white and dark shades of pink. Vintage styling was seen at a lot of the younger brands, with frilly knickers and hour glass corsets such as those by What Katie Did. Briefs will continue to be popular and the new thongs are made for comfort as well as sex appeal. Certainly lots to get excited about!
Mio Destino can announce that we will be getting some exciting new brands for the next season, so watch this space!
